2012 Blue Ribbon Schools

This year’s listing of 2012 Blue Ribbon Schools  has been posted at the Department of Education website.  The 269 schools recognized this year represent 40 states, the District of Colombia and the Department of Defense Education Activity.  According to the Department of Education, National Blue Ribbon Schools are the “best in their class,”  of public and private elementary and secondary schools.  These schools are noted for producing outstanding results for all students.

All Blue Ribbon Schools have one thing in common–high or improving academic achievement –each great school has an inspiring story to tell about excellence in teaching and learning.  It is wonderful to see the Department of Education awarding this recognition to such a wide variety of school types.  There is also a wide representation of locations within each state.

Congratulations to all of the schools who received the award this year.  Having been through the process while on staff in both private and public schools, we understand the rigor that is required of teachers, administrators and parents to accomplish this goal.  It is of particular note that having a  National Blue Ribbon Schools flag waving overhead has become a trademark of excellence and pride for the entire school community.  If your school is interested in applying for the National Blue Ribbon School designation be sure to check out the website for online forms.
